The Swedish National Food Agency (Livsmedelsverket) has recently published crisis tips for property owners with their own drinking water supply, focusing on how to ensure access to safe water in an emergency. The advice highlights the importance of planning, redundancy, and clear procedures during operational disruptions.
At Anolytech, we want to complement this advice with a concrete solution that strengthens your preparedness:
- Self-sufficiency: Our technology produces AnoDes, a pH-optimized hypochlorous acid, on site using only water, salt, and electricity. You become independent of external deliveries and hazardous goods.
- Robustness in a crisis: When regular infrastructure fails or deliveries of chemicals are halted, our system can continue to provide bacteria- and virus-free water locally.
- Preparedness in line with legal requirements: Anolytech’s solution supports continuity planning and supplier independence in accordance with the NIS2 directive. Our solution reduces supply-chain vulnerability in support of the Swedish Security Protection Act (Säkerhetsskyddslagen) and secures water and hygiene without reliance on external deliveries in municipal operations, in support of the Act on Extraordinary Events (LEH). Anolytech’s system is already used in hospitals to disinfect water, surfaces, hands, and equipment in accordance with current requirements from the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen).
- Flexibility: In addition to drinking water, the system can also be used for surfaces, hygiene, and equipment—crucial for property owners, healthcare providers, and operators of critical societal functions.
Livsmedelsverket’s crisis tips—at a glance
- Home water preparedness: Store drinking water so you can preferably manage for up to a week. Count on 3–5 liters per person per day (about 2 liters for drinking/food).
- Cope without electricity: Ensure you can access water during a power outage, e.g., with a bucket, hand pump, or backup generator.
- Purification in case of suspected contamination: Be able to boil or otherwise purify the water (note that boiling does not remove chemical substances).
- Emergency water: Know your nearest water kiosk/filling station and how to fetch water in your own container; coordinate with neighbors and the municipality.
